Diabetes Wellness Day Central
Sep 02 2017
Join DRWF and the specialist diabetes teams from South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust, Warwick and Stratford Hospitals and representatives from the community diabetes and screening services this September for this first annual Diabetes Wellness Day Central for people living with diabetes in the Midlands.
Following on from many years of successful Diabetes Wellness Days in the South and North, we are pleased to announce a new addition to our annual Diabetes Wellness Event Programme. This brand new event is being introduced to support and reach people living across the central region of the country.
The Diabetes Wellness Day Central will bring together a wealth of information under one roof for people living with all forms of Diabetes. Family members, friends and carers and those with an interest in diabetes are also encouraged to take part. The day will provide you with the tools, knowledge and practical skills needed to improve life with diabetes and the keys to healthier living. The day is designed to ensure all participants have the opportunity to raise their questions, share their experiences and enjoy the support of a friendly, like-minded diabetes community in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.
Each year we work together with our NHS colleagues to provide a programme that focuses on the many key areas that affect people living with diabetes. This year’s programme will be announced soon and once again the talks we choose will run as satellite sessions and be repeated throughout the day, giving everyone the chance to take part in the sessions that interest them the most.
The vibrant exhibition room will form the hub of the day, giving you the opportunity and flexibility to spend as much time as you like visiting the stands and chatting with a variety of experts and healthcare professionals who will be on hand to offer advice on diet, health, lifestyle and the latest blood-glucose meters and diabetes related products and services.
As well as the programme of talks, you will be able to take part in other activities, such as taster classes of Tai Chi, Pilates and Nordic Walking, trying out the hypo-simulator and learning how to use social media to enhance your diabetes self-management and how to become part of the wider online diabetes community.
As always DRWF is able to subsidise the cost of attendance as part of the charity’s annual educational event programme. We only ask for a small registration fee of £5 per person, to help us with the costs. The registration fee includes the full programme of talks and activities, access to the exhibition hall, all-day refreshments, a hot sit down lunch and free parking.
Once you have registered your place, we will send full details of the programme, directions and other important information to plan your day with us.
