If you've sung Messiah before, are a member of a choir, or used to be, then this event is for you. We’ll rehearse in the afternoon with the orchestra and after a short break perform the completeMessiah beginning at

We will use Novello scores. Please bring your own score if you have one; if not we have some for hire. Please email if you wish to hire one.

Come & Sing Messiah with professional vocal soloists will be accompanied by Orchestra of the Canongait and conducted by Robert Dick. Robert Dick is a fabulously inspiring and passionate conductor of choirs and orchestras. He is currently the conductor of Dundee Symphony Orchestra, Scottish Romance Orchestra and Orchestra of the Canongait and Musical Director of Anstruther Philharmonic Society.  His orperatic and choral credits include Julius Caesar, Carmen, Tosca, Die Fledermaus, Don Giovani, The Magic Flute, Fidelio, Messiah, Dido and Aeneas, B minor Mass and Mozart's Requiem.

Rehearsal Timings:

1.15pm Arrive at St Cuthbert's - remember there will be 600 people to be seated so please be prompt!

 Seats will be allocated on a first come first served basis. 

 Singers will sit in individual choral parts

2.00 – 3.30pm Rehearsal for choir and orchestra

3.30 – 3.50pm Short tea break (tea and coffee/soft drinks available)

3.50 – 5.30pm Rehearsal for choir and orchestra

5.30 – 6.15pm Bring your own picnic tea break (tea and coffee/soft drinks available)

6.30pm – Our performance will begin at 6.30pm and audience tickets are available.

There will be two intervals


 What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

Trains to Edinburgh Waverley 

Bus numbers 1, 34, or 22 from top of Waverley steps or bus numbers 10, 11, or 15 from Scott Monument. get off at first stop after the bus leaves Prince's Street and turns into Lothian Road

What can/can't I bring to the event?

Bring a Novello (Watkins Shaw edition) vocal score if you have one, hire when you buy tickets and collect at church

Wear what you feel comfortable in but smartish. You will have to wear it all day and evening and there won't really be anywhere to change

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

Yes, anyone can use it 


Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Yes please


What is the refund policy?

If you can't come, your money will go to Alzheimer's Research UK, Sorry no refunds but please find others to take your place if you can.
