South Ayrshire to help put people on the road to recovery with a new service

Date posted: 03 Jun 2013

Kenny Leinster, Head of Community Care and Housing for South Ayrshire Council, will open a new alcohol and drug service in South Ayrshire on Friday 7th June.

Commissioned by the South Ayrshire Alcohol and Drug Partnership (ADP), Addaction Scotland will work in partnership with existing organisations to support people in making a successful and sustained recovery from the effects of alcohol and/or drug misuse.

The service will be open to all those in South Ayrshire concerned about their own, or a friend or family member’s alcohol and/or drug misuse.

Andrew Horne, Director of Operations, for Addaction Scotland says:

“We are honoured that Kenny could take time out to officially open our new service.  We and our partners are ready for the challenge of making South Ayrshire truly recovery focused, a place where people can get the help that they need when the need it.  This really is at the fore front of the Governments Strategy “The Road to Recovery”.

Kenny Leinster will formally announce and open the building on 7th June 2013, with an event from 2pm – 4pm, at the new premises on Killoch Way, KA7 2EA, in the centre of Ayr.

Throughout the day the new service will be running several taster sessions; including ear acupuncture, relaxation groups and mutual aid workshops. Providing an excellent opportunity for people to really get involved in what interventions are on offer.
