Severn Selkies Canoe Challenge
127 mile canoe trip on the River Severn
Aug 17 2014
Aug 22 2014
Amanda and Isla plan to canoe the River Severn from near Pool Quay in Wales to the tidal estuary by Gloucester. As they are better known for high heels, hair straighteners and sipping cocktails than camping, canoeing and physical exertion this will be their biggest challenge for a very long time. Prepare for a lot of giggles along the way as training commences from a zero start through to the (hopefully successful) completion without injury (or breaking too many nails)! Sponsorship money is going to WedAid (a charity that both girls are trustees of) to raise funds for children in schools and orphanages in deprived areas abroad.
The River Severn is the longest river in Britain. It rises in the mountains of Wales and follows a circuitous route for over 200 miles before reaching the Bristol Channel and the sea.
The girls will be writing a blog on Facebook recording their training, trials and tribulations - find them at www.facebook.com/SevernChallenge and "like" to follow the fun :-)
