To educate, challenge and involve the people of Northern Ireland in the Christ-like and unique mission of The Leprosy Mission worldwide, and to contribute to its overall operations and development.

About Us

Founded in 1874 by an Irishman, The Leprosy Mission is an international Christian charity working in over 30 countries of the developing world to provide holistic care for people suffering from leprosy. Nowadays leprosy can be cured using Multidrug therapy, and disability and blindness can be prevented through early and appropriate treatment. A microscopic bacillus, Mycobacterium Leprae causes leprosy, and the disease is neither hereditary nor highly infectious. It is thought to be spread by airborne droplet infection.About 4 million already suffer from, or are at risk of, leprosy disability, and more than 800,000 new cases are detected each year.
