Registered Charity Number: 1079764
Their aim is to provide homeless people with support to take control and to transform their own lives.
The Passage helps up to 200 men and women every day being the largest voluntary sector day centre for homeless and vulnerable people in London.
Formed by a team of eight-strong workers, the team engages - often late at night or early in the morning - with those sleeping rough in Victoria every day.
The charity opened in March 2000 and offers 40-bed hostel called Passage House.
Their 16 self-contained studio flats in Montfort House also have staff support on site and specialise in helping very long term rough sleepers.
They offer professional and relevant advice according to the client’s needs and aspirations. Together, the staff and the client agree on an action plan which is time limited with the aim of supporting clients out of homelessness.
It costs over £4 million a year to keep The Passage going from which only 40% is funded from statutory sources; the rest comes from donations from the general public, church organisations, charitable trusts and firms.
The Passage is dedicated to fostering good relations with its nearby residents and to lowering any impact of its presence in the area to a minimum.
