The Maytree Respite Centre

“If I hadn’t been to Maytree I’d have committed suicide, without a question of a doubt. In a time of total, utter despair and blackness, it gave me hope. And now five years later, I’m here.” Almost twice the number of people who die on the roads take their own lives every year. Many thousands more attempt suicide, and the stigma of mental illness and the fear of being sectioned prevents many people from seeking help. Maytree was set up to fill this gap and offers a one-off short stay in a homely, confidential and safe environment with plenty of space to talk, reflect, rest - and restore hope. Since opening, we have been there for over 4,500 people in suicidal crisis, with 750 people staying at Maytree - but we know we need to do more. Please help with a gift in your will.
