FOOD fans are urged to sign up for a pie-eating competition to raise money for Give infants a life appeal.

The Heron Reach Hotel, Blackpool, is hosting the competition which will challenge pie fans to munch through a meal in record time.

Contestants should register a team of four and select one member to gobble their way through a steak and ale pie or vegetarian pie - using just a fork - during the event on Thursday November 17th.

The fastest pie-eater will win a three-month membership to the hotel’s gym - and the other entrants will receive a free day pass.

After the contest everyone will be treated to a pie and mash meal, followed by a quiz.

Jarvis Morrisey, hotel general manager, said: "We’re thrilled to be hosting this fun event for a great cause. We hope the contest will attract a lot of pie lovers who would like to help raise money for the Give infants a life appeal.

To register for the competition, which takes place at 7pm in the HUB, call Marie Holland, on 020 8249 5655.

Entry fee is £40 for a team of four - and the pie-eating contestant should raise a further minimum sponsorship of £2000.
