King's Lynn, Norfolk
SPEADA has been formed by qualified youth workers and volunteers with a variety of experience between them in order to support all young people aged 11-19 years (or up to 25 with a disability) in West Norfolk.
We currently run 3 youth groups in West Norfolk, offering young people the chance to build their confidence, meet new people and experience new things through taking part in a range of different workshops including; sports, art & craft, cooking, life skills, IT, and many more. We also provide day trips and residentials for the young people enabling them to learn new skills and try new things.
What do we do?
Well we currently run 3 youth groups for young people in West Norfolk; The Friday Club and 2 Young Carers groups, as explained below:
Friday Club, is based in Kings Lynn and is for young people aged 11 - 19 (or up to 25 if disabled) with mixed abilities. Aims of the Group are to enhance our members life’s, social skills and self-confidence through different activities - These are provided primarily through the Lead Youth Support Workers and through the support of volunteers, located in a safe environment with a very strict no - bullying policy. In addition we would also like to offer at least one residential course a year, to stretch the bounds of members comfort zones and to grow personal confidence in their abilities and capabilities.
Friday Club runs every Friday (term time) from 6pm-8pm - The club costs £2.00 per night (first night is always free) - We are based at the Freebridge Community Centre, Providence Street, Kings Lynn.
Young Carers Group
We understand there to be 150 young people in the area that have no carers group available to them and subsequently no access to appropriate help and support. There is a waiting list for groups that are in operation. This group offers Young carers aged 7 - 19 years old a regular break from their home environment and the opportunity to meet, mix and sharing experiences with other young people in similar situations.
We offer support and advice from qualified Youth Workers, signposting to partner agencies for further support and information. Not forgetting of course, the opportunity of experiencing childhood through fun activities and workshops, providing young carers with the comfort of knowing, they are not alone. Each club night we also provide the young carers with transport and a hot meal.
As with the Friday Club we also try to give carers a respite, in the form of a residential break at least once a year and encourage involvement for those that want to take it on.
We currently run 2 young carers groups on Wednesday evenings (term times):
Group 1 - Is for ages 7-11 years old and runs in Terrington St Clement at 5.00pm - 6.30pm
Group 2 - Is for ages 11-19 years old and runs in Terrington St Clement at 7.00pm - 9.00pm
If you would like more information on Friday Club please get in touch via our 'GET IN TOUCH' tab on the website.
We would appreciate any help offered through workshops, volunteering, donations and activities
