SOS Children's Villages is an international non-governmental social development organisation which provides long-term care for over 60,000 children in 560 SOS Children’s Villages. Their main focus is on children without parental care and children of families in difficult situations.
SOS Children’s Village supports vulnerable children, families and their communities to grow and expand in several ways.
Founded in 1949, SOS Children provides long-term care to children who had lost their homes their securities or families in the Second World War.
Children in their care live in a unique community called an SOS Children's Village where they grow up in a loving family home, and are cared for by a devoted SOS mother. Working along with local authorities and governments, the charity co-operates with all governments to build families for children in need and help them shape their own futures by providing quality education and healthcare for the whole community.
SOS Children looks after children whose parents are not there to care for them and have no one else to rely on to in order to prevent children from becoming orphaned or abandoned. The organisation also enables people to sponsor a child in most of the countries they operate.
