Three Peaks Challenge
Sponsor The Service Committee to climb 3 mountains in 24 hours!
Jun 29 2012
The Service Committee supports a number of charities and local projects through volunteering, fundraising and increasing awareness and this year they have organised for a team of 8 individuals to complete The Three Peaks Challenge in June of this year to raise funds for the Social Mobility Foundation.
The Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the highest peaks in Britain, which are:
- Ben Nevis (1,344m), Scotland
- Scafell Pike (978m), England
- Snowdon (1,085m) Wales
Not only will the team climb the three peaks, but they will climb them all within 24 hours. In total, the journey entails hiking 42 horizontal kilometres, ascending 3,000 vertical metres and traveling 725 kilometres between the three mountains. The challenge lies in the physical exhaustion, lack of sleep and dangerous conditions in this fight against the clock.
Their fundraising target is £4,000 and they will be organising fundraising events up until June to reach this target.
All donations are gratefully received for this tough challenge! Click here to sponsor them.
