Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland provide a lifetime commitment of specialised support and information to all those affected by the lifelong, complex disabilities of spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus. They also seek to increase public awareness and understanding of the conditions.

The charity works in partnership with members, carers, healthcare professionals and other organisations to provide a dynamic and responsive range of services to ensure that each individual enjoys as high a quality of life as possible.

Every Service is useful. This one's essential.

When a child is first diagnosed it is a very stressful time for parents and other family members. Parents feel socially isolated, frustrated and under a great deal of pressure. Families need advice and support to help them come to terms with the initial situation that faces them and to learn how to manage in the years ahead. Such support will be required during the child's life and throughout adulthood to ensure that all the specialised needs of the individual are met.

"SBH Scotland was there to help me as soon as my baby was born, at my side, supporting me with help, advice, care packages and access to other families and children with the same problems. With their help we have never felt alone."

Having easy access to the right advice and support helps to ease the stress and strain for those already experiencing a traumatic period.
