Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI)

The charity that saves lives at sea

Registered Charity Number: 209603 , SC037736
Poole, Dorset

Your legacy is our lifeline

When the crew launch, your gift goes with them.

It will be the lifeboat that launches at 2AM in sub zero temperatures. It will be the training that guides Coxswain Harvey through 40-foot waves and gale force winds. It will be the tow rope that pulls a vessel out
of danger.

A legacy to the RNLI will be more than a gift in your Will. It will save lives at sea.

A gift in your Will can buy the training, kit and lifeboat that keep a volunteer crew member like 19 year old Lorcan Hickey safe as he faces wild seas to rescue someone in an emergency.

‘My heart misses a beat when I hear his pager beeping,’ says his mother Frances. ‘I worry until I know he’s safe, especially in the winter with the wind, rain and dark nights.’

‘I’ll be on tenterhooks until I hear that the crew are back safely. I’ve taken comfort from talking to the guys at the lifeboat station. I’ve learned how things work and how serious the RNLI is about training, safety and equipment. I have to accept that Lorcan is doing it as safely as possible’ says Lorcan's father Peter.

After you’ve looked after family and friends, please consider the RNLI

Putting a gift in your Will to the RNLI does not mean neglecting your family and friends. Of course you can put them first. But if there is any room for a legacy to the RNLI, please think about lifeboat volunteers like Lorcan Hickey. It doesn’t matter how much you can give, they need people like you behind them.

Testimonial from Peter Harrison who has left a gift in his will to the RNLI

"I've put a gift in my Will to the RNLI because what they do is so brave and so deserving of support. Gift in Wills to the RNLI train and equip them too. Leaving a gift to the RNLI is a family tradition for me- a legacy is way of continuing my lifetime support. It is really very easy to include a gift in your Will to the RNLI, I just asked a solicitor to do it for me and there it is, a gift to the RNLI all sorted. I would encourage others to leave gifts in wills so that the RNLI can continue its life-saving work."
