Online Donations Service Terms and Conditions

Terms and Conditions
Use of the Charity Choice website and any of its services implies acceptance of the following Terms and Conditions. Please read this page carefully.

About Charity Choice and the online donations service
The Charity Choice website includes a comprehensive directory of over 10000 addresses of registered UK charities. All listed charities are eligible to participate at no cost to themselves in the Charity Choice Online Donations Service, developed by Charity Choice in association with The Co-Operative Bank Plc. Registered charities who are not listed in Charity Choice are also invited to submit their details to obtain a listing. Assuming that such charities fulfil our normal selection criteria and are deemed to be bona fide, we shall add them to our database and they will become eligible to participate in the online donation service. All charities on the Charity Choice database are invited to participate in the service by registering online via our website. We shall continue to publicise the service to those charities who have not yet chosen to participate. Charity Choice includes details of charities with similar names and the branch offices of the same charity. It is the users responsibility to ensure that they select and donate to the charity they intended. We cannot accept responsibility for any use which the recipient makes of the donations made through the Charity Choice Online Donations Service.

Fees and transaction charges
Neither Charity Choice nor The Co-Operative Bank Plc. charge any fee to charities who participate in the online donation service. The only fees applicable to donation transactions are those charged by the card issuers. Card issuers set their rates based upon the volume of transactions and revenue processed. By pooling all charities donations together via Charity Choice we have managed to negotiate extremely favourable rates. The current applicable card issuer fees for donations processed via Charity Choice in association with The Co-Operative Bank Plc are charged at 2.35% for all major credit cards and 27.5p for all major debit cards. As more transactions are processed we shall renegotiate with the card issuers to reduce transaction rates even further.

Unauthorised card use
When a donation is made the transaction is final and not disputable unless unauthorised use of your payment card is proved. If you become aware of fraudulent use of your card, or it is lost or stolen, you must notify your card provider in accordance with its reporting rules.

Password security
Charities who register to participate in the Charity Choice Online Donations Service will be given the opportunity to access their own secure part of the site using a password. Charities are responsible for protecting the security of their password. If you become aware of any unauthorised use of your password please contact us immediately via email onlinedonations@charitychoice.co.uk or telephone 020 7566 8249.
