When animal welfare pioneer Maria Dickin opened the door of the first PDSA ‘dispensary’ on 17 November 1917, she not only made history; she made a promise to pet owners in need to provide free PDSA veterinary care for their sick and injured animals.
At PDSA we believe all pets deserve a healthy and happy life. Pets give us so much love and friendship and they ask for so little in return. Nearly 95 years we provide free veterinary treatment for 9,600 sick and injured pets on a daily basis.
PDSA depends entirely on the generosity of our supporters to fund our free veterinary service and of this, gifts in wills account for two thirds of the funds we need to make sure we’re always there to care.
