Walk Ten 2013 Gibside for Marie Curie Cancer Care
Join Marie Curie for one of the premier fundraising events of the summer.
Aug 31 2013
Walk Ten (10k) with us this summer and join hundreds of walkers as we support and celebrate the work of our Marie Curie Nurses.
Opening during the twilight hours exclusively for Marie Curie Cancer Care, the Gibside National Trust property offers miles of woodland and beautiful riverside views across theDerwentValley.
Our twilight 10k walk event is a chance for families, friends and colleagues alike to enjoy an evening of outdoor fun and fresh air. After you have completed the 10k route you’ll be able to enjoy live music and entertainment before the 10pm finale.
At 10pm, thanks to the funds raised by our Walk Ten participants, terminally ill patients all across the North East will, at that very moment, be answering their door to a Marie curie Nurse. This nurse will provide vital care, comfort and support to this patient and their family. We mark this special moment with fireworks and music.
For those walking in memory of a loved one, candle lanterns will be available on which you can write a message. As darkness falls these messages will be illuminated by candle light.
Please note dogs are welcome but the route may not be suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs.
