Join us next year for another summer night of exhilarating parliamentary battles in the House of Lords vs House of Commons Tug of War 2016. With a Champagne reception, sumptuous standing supper and superb entertainment you’ll be sure to adore the electric summer party atmosphere.

Following the General Election, this year’s Tug saw the new parliament pulling together in rousing team spirit for the House of Commons to trounce the House of Lords for a sixth year running – question is, will the underdogs bounce back?

The House of Lords vs House of Commons Tug of War 2016 is set to be a night to remember.

Gates will open at 5.30pm for champagne reception and canapés. Matches begin at 6.30 with the event finishing promptly at 9pm.

Dress code: Lounge suit

Competitors and spectators alike were welcomed into the idyllic Westminster College Gardens for a summer evening surrounded by some of the capital’s most exquisite and iconic landmarks. Met with a Champagne reception, guests entered the stunning walled-garden to gaze in awe at stilt walkers while being serenaded by The Blind Tigers, a New Orleans-style jazz trio hailed as some of London’s finest young musicians.

The headline event then kicked off with host John Pienaar, BBC Radio 5 Live's Chief Political Correspondent, whipping up an enlivened crowd at the Tug of War battleground. The raucous crowd first cheered on rival city firms, industry giants, armed forces and fire crews, including Taylor Wimpey, Marks and Spencer and Associated British Ports, before the parliamentary representatives took to the stage to flex their pulling power. Led by Mike Penning MP, the House of Commons floored the House of Lords, jointly led by Lord Dobbs and Lord Collins of Highbury, to secure a fantastic sixth consecutive victory.

Luxury prizes ranging from elegant dinners-for-two to a seven-night stay in the French Alps were available throughout the night and were snapped up by excited guests. Our Gourmet Gamble, Weekend Wager and Silent Auction all together helped to raise an incredible £116,000 with all proceeds going directly to help people affected by cancer.

A huge thank you again to all who made this event a resounding success, and keep your eyes peeled for details on the next round of summer fun!
