ABOUT THE TRUST

The kennet & Avon Canal Trust has been in existence for over 50 years.

The Trust's aims

To protect, maintain and enhance the waterway through positive involvement and partnership with the canal management, Local Government and others;

To protect and enhance the waterway through fund raising, campaigning, funding and resource provisions;

To support and increase Trust membership, canal volunteering and canal community networking;

To protect, enhance and promote the waterway and it's story through the trust museum, pumping stations, shops boats and branch networks;

To raise awareness of the canal and its potential.

The Trust's membership reflects the wide range of activities that the canal provides - boating, cycling, fishing, walking and the pursuit of wildlife and heritage interests.  If you want to support us, or help us in our work, then please contact us.

OPENED AUGUST 2012


Canal Trust Cafe opened on Saturday11th August 2012, located on the Wharf, couch lane, Devizes.

Souvineer shop and Museum also open 7 days a week and boat trips on Wednesday, Saturday, Sundays and Throughout August an extra trip on thursdays please call for more information.

Other Cafe's are at The Wharf Newbury, Crofton Pumping Station and The Wharf side cafe Bradford on Avon

WIDE BEAM CANAL BOAT TRIPS

We have four canal boats that can be hired on charters or you can go on our public trips and themed trips

At Great Bedwyn we have Crofton Beam Engines they are the oldest working steam dengines in the world still performing the job they were built for. They are set in unspoilt wiltshire countryside close to the old market town of Marlborough.

There is a Cafe, Gift shop & Grounds open every day March 9th to October 6th inclusive 10.30 - 5.00 pm

Special weekends when the beam engines are in steam are July 27 & 28, August 24,25 & 26 and September 28 & 29  please visit there web site www.croftonbeamengines.org
