Insulin Dependent Diabetes Trust

The Trust was formed by people with diabetes for people with diabetes. We offer support and understanding to those with diabetes and their families and provide information publications to enable people with diabetes to have an informed choice of treatment. Your help can improve the quality of life of the many people who live with diabetes. Nearly half a million adults and children in the UK today have diabetes requiring insulin treatment. The Trust relies entirely on voluntary donations. Complications of diabetes - diabetes can cause blindness, kidney failure, nerve damage and heart attack that severely affect the lives of all those living with diabetes. A cure for diabetes is still illusive so research is essential. We support research investigating ways of trying to prevent diabetes complications and improving the day to day lives of people with diabetes. The incidence of diabetes in children is increasing - this very vulnerable group and their parents need support and understanding. Your support will help us to further develop our programme to help children and to provide an information resource for teachers about the needs of children with diabetes. People in poor countries die for lack of affordable insulin - the Trust collects and sends unwanted insulin to developing countries.
