GSD 2000 gained registered charity status in January 2000 with the mission of relieving the suffering and distress of unwanted, abandoned and badly treated German Shepherd Dogs. With a non-destruct policy in place, we have to date rescued and re-homed over 800 dogs. The long term aim of the charity is to purchase our own kennel facilities but, until that time, our rescue dogs are cared for in fully approved accommodation. The Charity’s policy is to neuter all dogs that come into care and to re-home them in carefully selected environments with suitable keepers. Should family circumstances change, or things go wrong, GSD 2000 will accept any dog it has homed back into care at any time and either re-home them or, in the case of much older dogs, place them into foster care enabling them to continue to live in a home instead of a boarding kennel with the Charity funding their veterinary fees. Almost all funding we receive is spent on our dogs with any administration costs being kept to the absolute minimum.
