Team Coatsey Chesterfield
Hi, I'm Rick King proud member of Team Coatsey. On going to watch the Bupa Great Yorkshire run in 2012 and noticing that some runners were competing in the memory of friends and loved ones, I thought that it might be a good idea to get together a team of workmates from Chesterfield Royal Hospital Estates Department to compete in the 2013 race in order to raise money for Chris, a friend and workmate suffering from Motor Neurone Disease. The intention was to purchase equipment to make his life a little easier. I was not aware of how bad Chris had become and was shocked to hear on my return to work that he had passed away that very weekend making it more poignant that we should do something in his memory. So, Team Coatsey was born and we're aiming to raise money for the Sheffield Institute for Translational Neuroscience Research Centre (SITraN) which is based locally at the University of Sheffield. It is hoped that someday their work will find a cure for this terrible condition and others like it. Although there was nothing that could be done for Chris, we hope that the money raised through sponsorship will be used to make even the smallest advances towards a cure and a longer life for future sufferers.
Thank you for your support.
