As many of you may already know my boyfriend (Ryan Murney), family and friends are running the Glasgow Half Marathon on the 4th of Ocotober to raise funds for Redburn School in Cumbernauld. I have choosen to run the 10k which takes part on the same day as the Half Marathon for Redburn School in Cumbernauld.
Redburn is an amazing school which caters for children with a wide range of abilities and complex needs. As a furture primary teacher, I understand the commitment, care and true passion which goes in to the development and learning of every child no matter their ability. Redburn greatly shows this. Ryan's younger brother Sean Murney has sever autisim and attends Redburn where they have and continue to support him greatly to develop his understanding/learning. I can very easily say that Sean Murney is the greatest, happiest, most loving, funny, and flat out the most amazing young man. He makes me so happy, makes me laugh and keeps me smiling because he is so full of genuine happiness and love. He is truley a star and deserves as does every child the best that education can give.
The school need extra funds to purchase a mini bus which would allow the children to become more involved within the community and develop social skills. Myself and others would be very greatful for any donations and thank you for your support. To conclude whilst at an Award Ceremony in Redburn School the Head teacher said an inspring quote from Nelson Mandela which reads 'Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world'.
