We have now finished the 16 day Everest Base Camp (via Gokyo Lakes) trek, which was very challenging indeed, but the people and the beauty of the mountains of Nepal more than made up for it. We will continue this webpage for another two months to try and increase our target to up to £2000 for Our Sansar. We visited the orphanage in Birgunj and met the 8 boys housed there, aged between 6 to 12. There are 4 full-time staff who attend to them, from cooking to taking them to school. The home was quite bare and could do with stationery, books, pictures and play equipment. Please donate any sum, however small to reach the target. We thank you sincerely in advance for your time. Our short profiles are below should you be interested. Nitin and Mina Changela
I like running, trekking and cycling. As always, there is not enough time to pursue as much as I would like. I have run four marathons, cycle challenges up to 52 miles, and trekking the Three highest peaks in the U.K. in 24 hours.
All of these events since 1996 raised money to support cancer charities, as I lost my sister, Nutan, 35 to Leukaemia in 1996. You have been generous in supporting me.
I also organise Charity walking group trips in the U.K. and Europe. This time I decided to raise funds for an orphanage in Nepal run and financed by Our Sansar, a U.K. based charity run by voluntary staff, while trying to trek to Everest Base Camp in Nepal.
I thank you all in advance for your support of this worthy cause.
Children are my inspiration, therefore I feel motivated to embark on this Everest challenge and help Our Sansar. There are over 30,000 children living on the streets with no access to shelter, education, healthcare and no real prospects for the future. More than 50,000 children die every year, with malnutrition as the underlying cause. But there is something you can do to help.
Mount Everest is so beautiful and it's a great way to celebrate my 50th birthday. I love children and have worked as a teacher for 18 years and my goal in the future is to support and raise money for charities and engage in voluntary work. Please support this worthy cause and your donation will be a token of your love and will give children a healthy life and a happy future.
The trek is for 19 days to base camp. I am looking forward to this challenge!
