Over a long career as an accountant in public practice, I have held various roles in a number of charities.
My main interests are in education, in promoting the arts, particularly the visual arts and chamber music, in support for the elderly and those with mental health problems.
I was a Mental Welfare Commissioner in Scotland from 1992 to 1998 and a member of the Board of Napier University from 1988 to 2000. I have been secretary and treasurer of the Society of Scottish Artistrs, and am currently (for the third time) treasurer of the Scottish Arts Club.
I am Chairman of the Medndelssohn on Mull Trust, a charity in which I have been involved since it was founded 25 years ago.
I have been the treasurer of St Mary's Episcopal Edinburgh for 35 years, and am a director of St Mary's Cathedral Workshop which trains stonemasons.
