John & Helen Wilkinson
Running for Life
On the 21st April 2011, I John Wilkinson suffered a heart attack at the age of 45. It completely floored me and I had no confidence whatsoever. But it was the intervention of the Royal's Cardio Rehabilitation nurses that helped me regain my confidence with a programme of exercise and confidence building that helped me turn my life around.
It's just over a year since my heart attack, I have returned to work, starting a new business alongside my wife Helen. We cycle regular of distances around 30-50 miles and we enjoy walking and running, which has resulted in us entering the Robin Hood Half Marathon in Nottingham on the 30th September 2012 aiming to raise £10,000 with all proceeds going to the Cardiac Rehab Nurses Trust Fund.
We are raising money for them so that anyone in Chesterfield who suffers a heart attack will get the same type of treatment and aftercare as I've had. It really has been the difference between me staying at home and being able to put my life back together and I can't say how grateful I am to those nurses to getting me back on track and also the support for Helen during this difficult time.
So, if you would like to kindly donate to John and Helen's cause then please click on the link provided and help us raise money for a truly caring team of nurses.
