My Profile

I am from Sri Lanka. Born in Galle district the captal city of down south. Both my parents worked for the LOcal Government department as Assistant Direcotrs and now ther are retired. I have a elder sister and she is working as Production Manager in a japanese manufacturing organization in Sri Lanka. Brother in-law is an investigating officer of Health Ministry in Sri Lanka. I am married without kids (at the moment) and now living near colombo.

I have completed my studies from University of Kelaniya and Professional studies in Human Resources Management from Institute of Personnel Management in Sri Lanka. Now i am reading for my MBA in Human Resources & Labor Law from University of Colombo. I hav emore than 6 years working experience in the field of HRM andcurrently i am working as an Assistant Manager in aleading local Organization. My spouse also working for a leading private Hospital chain as a Senior Execuitve Human Resources. She is from Badulla District, capital city of Uva Province and 7 hours journey from Colombo. Badulla is an Agricultural area with a historical background.

I have an intention to Establish a Agricultural farm in BADULLA dstrict to help less previledged people in the area. Therefore i have develop a project - BEYOND THE HORIZONS- and seek your valuable advice and help to support these less previledged people.

 

During the 1st phase of the project proposed agricultural farm will be established and during the 2nd stage of the project ECO Tourism and Voluenteering opportunites will be promoted to enance the skills of youth of the area to ensure their employability.

 

After completion of the project minimum 30 direct employment opportunties will be provided for youth in the area.

 

Following is the outline of the project- BEYOND THE HORIZONS-

 

Objective

The main objective of the project is to support less privileged people in Badulla area and enhance their skills.

Other objectives of the project are:

  • Developing ECO Tourism in the area for affordable prices (Approximately 1000-1500 US $ with meal , accommodation and transport)
  • Promoting Handicraft Items among Tourists
  • Developing leadership , communicational skills among youth in the area by promoting volunteer opportunities

 

Nature of the Project- Beyond the Horizons

 Badulla district is the capital city of UVA Province of Sri Lanka, 7 hours journey from Colombo city. Historically It is an agricultural area. Big tea plantations, small and medium agricultural projects are available in the area. This is the main income source of people in the area. Literacy rate and language proficiency is low due to the lack of opportunities available.

 

Main Steps of the Project

 

1st Phase

  1. Finding a suitable land for the project (3-4 acres)
  2. Gathering / formulating a rural farming society
  3. Employment Opportunities for  selected farmers (minimum 20 nos)
  4. Finding suitable market opportunities
  5. Exporting  selected Value added products

2nd Phase

  1. Identifying areas to develop ECO Tourism
  2. Promoting ECO Tourism in the area
  3. Creating volunteer opportunities in the area
  4. Few Selected CRS Projects- Leadership development project, University scholarship programs, Nursing student scholarship programs
  5. Employment opportunities for Youth in the area (Minimum 10 Direct opportunities and more self employment opportunities)

Second phase of the project will be completed from the profits earned through the first phase.
