I am the one of the founders of Shine Cancer Support (RC 1146902) which was started after my own diagnosis of cancer when I was 29. I was always the youngest person in the room at all hospital visits and it took me over a year to meet anyone else living with cancer that was anywhere near my age. I felt isolated and like I didn't fit in to the 'normal' cancer patient image (whatever that may be!)
Shine began as a way to connect other young adults diagnosed with cancer so that they can benefit from the enormous value of peer support, spending time with people to truly understand what you are going through.
Now we have groups across the UK we are reaching more people every month. We have a national programme of events that include people from anywhere and everywhere and we are working to grow and strengthen the charity in order that we can keep doing this vital work and reach as many of the 30,000 young adults diagnosed with cancer each year in the UK as possible.
By sponsoring me for the latest hair brained scheme I am involved in, you are helping us to help more people more quickly so THANK YOU!!!
