NCI Bass Point Station

For National Coastwatch Institution

NCI Bass Point Station photo

Our lookout was the founding station of the National Coastwatch Institution, being Bass Point on The Lizard, Cornwall.  If you are not aware of what we do, we are an organisation of volunteers manning numerous stations around the coast, watching for any maritime traffic in difficulty or in need of assistance, as well as looking out for the thousands of people that walk the coastal path. We liaise with HM Coastguard, RNLI and at Bass Point we have a close association with 771 Sqn Search & Rescue (RNAS Culdrose). Please take a moment to visit our National website: where full information about what we do is available.

You can also visit our Facebook page

Our charity receives no government funding and can only exist with the generosity of the public, through the continued fundraising efforts by the volunteer members.  We have a high level of sophisticated equipment (such as radar, computer-based vessel tracking etc) as well as the day to do maintenance and running costs of a station lookout post exposed to the elements and Mother Nature on The Lizard!

Our running costs average around £500 per month.

Please support us, if you are able, with a donation of whatever you can afford... every pound counts to us at NCI in our quest to keep the station running and, as our motto says, provide "Eyes Along the Coast".

Thank you
