Edinburgh City Mission was established in 1832 by David Nasmith; the ethos of David Nasmith then was and is still with us today:“May the glory of God and the salvation of souls be your chief – your only end”. ECM has changed over the 180 years it has been in existence. The popular misconception is that ECM is about soup kitchens, night shelters and the Carevan. We are still responsible for the administration of the Carevan but not soup kitchens or Night Shelter.

The Vision of Edinburgh City Mission is:

Pioneering – Resourcing – Equipping

Edinburgh City Mission exists to serve the Church of Jesus Christ by pioneering gospel outreach in our city, resourcing and encouraging local churches to be missional and to equip individuals to be bold witnesses to the life transforming good news of Jesus Christ.
