Ten students have been awarded bursaries and scholarships from the CIPS Foundation.

Lydia Atayo (Uganda), Kennedy Godwell (Zambia), Shadreck Masedwe (Zimbabwe), Gladys Nyongesa (Kenya), Victor Ochieng (Kenya), and Anita Quinn (Australia) are recipients of the CIPS Foundation International Bursary. It is awarded to students outside the UK which the Foundation believes “are in the most need of aid to start, or continue, their procurement and supply education”.

Students Charles Essilfie-Conduah and Peter Pylpczuk have been awarded the CIPS Foundation UK Bursary, which is “intended to help people who are struggling to fund/take CIPS qualifications due to personal hardship”.

UK-based students Lois Dalton and Natasha Jenkins are the recipients of the CIPS Foundation Professional Procurement Scholarship. This aims to help the brightest and best around the world to complete the Professional Diploma towards achievement of MCIPS and further develop their knowledge of procurement and supply.

Lynne Jones, Foundation manager at CIPS, said: “This has been a great new initiative and we are hopeful that other study providers around the world will also see the opportunity to support learners, in particular those who traditionally have found access to CIPS learning and qualifications difficult for a wide variety of reasons. These learners would benefit from practical support to match their enthusiasm and drive to succeed in the global procurement and supply sector.”

The next application window opens next month in November, with an additional bursary – the Study Centre Special Bursary. Under this category, Lawrence Chisenga in Zambia and Christopher Wallo in Malawi will be supported with distance learning and academic mentoring.

“This enables matching funding from CIPS study centres together with CIPS Foundation bursary support to enable a joint package of academic study and support, examinations and coursebooks to give professional and timely support to self-study learners,” said Jones.
