As we endeavour to assist the families in Kaleere to become self sufficient we have learnt that many are desperate for food.

The early rains failed to arrive this year. The drought has  caused many crops to fail but in addition it has caused the Hippopotamus from the lake 1½ miles away to come into the village.

Canon Eriab told us in an email today (9th Sept 16):

“The area has been invaded by hippos from the nearby Lake Kijanebarora.

These hippos usually feed on the weeds around the lake but now all grass is no where and this has forced these animals to invade the nearby gardens for their survival,which has thus affected the community members “

Of the 83 families affected we are able to pledge funding to feed 37 of the most vulnerable.
