Generation for Change & Development (GENCAD) is pleased to announce a new event, Step Up for Africa Sponsored Walk. The sponsored walk will take place on 18th of October 2014 starting at 11:00 am from Hampton Court Palace (one of the great icons of Tudor England) and ends at Albert Bridge. The walk is about 23 miles and estimated to take 7 hours.
The funds raised during this event will be used to support our Orphan Girls Project- Bridge Educational Gap for Orphan Girls in Mandera County, Kenya. Mandera County and other arid regions in the northern Kenya suffer from harsh climatic conditions, political and economic marginalization. As a result over 87% of the population of Mandera County live below the poverty line.
North Eastern Province lags behind other provinces in Kenya in terms of socioeconomic development. For instance, the province has the lowest primary and secondary school enrolment rate, which stands at 9.8% and 4.8% respectively.
If you believe that every child deserves to receive a decent education, and that you are passionate about making a positive change to a child’s well-being, please join us on Saturday 18th October 2014.
The assembly point is at Hampton Court Station at 10:30am.
