Cancer Support UK has been is shortlisted for two awards at the prestigious Charity Times Awards 2017. The organisation has been shortlisted in the ‘Change Project of the Year’ category and our Chief Executive, Gemma Holding is confirmed as a finalist for the ‘Rising CEO Star’ award.

The Charity Times Awards continue to be the pre-eminent celebration of best practice in the UK charity and not-for-profit sector. Now in their 18th year, the awards are run by Charity Times Magazine - the leading title for UK non-profit professionals.

The ‘Change Project of the Year’ award is presented to a charity that has carried out a significant change project, completed during the past 12 months, resulting in a more efficient or appropriately organised charity to the ultimate benefit of its service users/beneficiaries. Cancer Support has been shortlisted in this category for the wholesale change that has been implemented across the organisation over the last year, including the change in governance, fundraising practises, services and brand.

The ‘Rising CEO star’ award is for a Chief Executive who has demonstrated dedication, professionalism and integrity throughout their short career, and who has produced an identifiably profound effect on the sector through their work and management and shows great potential going forward.

Our CEO, Gemma Holding said, “I am really excited that both Cancer Support UK and I are finalists in the Charity Times Awards and to be considered amongst such remarkable charities is a real honour. The last year has represented a time of significant change for us as a team and we have worked hard to transform the organisation - to better support people with cancer. I am thrilled that we have been recognised for our efforts in this regard”.  

This year’s winners will be announced at the Charity Times Awards Gala Dinner & Ceremony on 4 October 2017.
