Move for Movember

Move for Movember

With the arrival of November we can expect leaves blustering in the wind, used fireworks lying in jeweled grass, and men across the nation sporting moustaches to celebrate the charity event tackling the top two male cancers – prostate and testicular.

Oh yes, Movember, the campaign aimed at drawing awareness to men’s health issues by encouraging them to grow a moustache for one month is here.

Over the past 12 years, millions have joined the men’s health movement, raising £402 million and funding over 1,000 projects. The Movember vision is to have an everlasting impact on the face of men’s health. Around the world, there is an urgent need to make men’s health a priority issue, alongside the health and wellbeing of the women and children in our communities. This is why men and women (Mo Bros and Mo Sistas) from across the globe become a united voice every Movember, bringing vital funding and attention to the hidden men’s health crisis.

This year, the Movember campaign is encouraging Mo Bros and Mo Sisters to sign up and grow a mo or commit to MOVE to raise awareness and funds for men’s health.

As Mo Bros unite and clean shave on the 1st of the month, they become walking, talking billboards helping to generate awareness and raise vital funds as they wear Movember’s hairy ribbon for 30 days.

But how can women get involved?

The challenge is to MOVE every day of Movember – 30 MOVEs in 30 days. How you MOVE each day is up to you. Whether it’s a workout one day, walking 30 minutes to work the next, a game of ping pong or an epic bike ride, no MOVE is too big or small.

The good news is that moving on a regular basis can reduce your risk of heart disease, diabetes, and cancer by up to 50% and lower your risk of early death by up to 30%. It’s also one of the best ways to stay mentally healthy and one of the best treatments for mild to moderate depression.

And MOVE isn’t just about fitness. It’s about shaking up the routine. Trying something new. Moving in unusual ways. Challenging yourself. Getting your friends on board. Doing something good for you and men’s health. For Mo Sistas, MOVE is a way to do something tangible in the name of men’s health, and for Mo Bros it’s a new challenge.

So get out, have some fun, grow a tash or run a mile day, compete with friends and create a buzz around the office, but also to make sure that the all-important issues of men’s health don’t get forgotten.
