Yorkshire 3 Peak Challenge
3 mountains...25.5 miles...12 hours...
Sep 28 2013
A team of parents and friends of Abbots Farm Infant School will be undertaking the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge this month, attempting to climb Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in the Yorkshire Dales, a distance of 24.5 miles in 12 hours or less.
There are seven people on the team, many of whom will be familar faces from the playground: Elaine Skates (Chair of Governors and year 2 & reception parent), Becky Hithersay (year 2 parent), Rachel Norton (year 2 Auntie), Gary Bettley (year 2 and pre-school parent), Matt Maloyd (pre-school parent), Daniel Grimsley (member of community) and Neil Smith (year 2 and reception parent).
We are undertaking this to raise funds for our new outdoor classroom. The new facility will promote learning outside the classroom, in a variety of subjects. Teachers will be able to teach the whole class in the structure, or use it for smaller group work. Children benefit from learning in a different environment and they will also learn about the natural world around them.
Please support us by sponsoring us to complete the challenge.
